বর্ষার পানি কমানোর সাথে সাথে নিচু জমি, খাল-বিলের পানি সেচে মাছ ধরার এই চিত্র আমাদের জন্য নতুন কিছু নয়। তবে এরকম মাছ ধরার সে দৃশ্য সচরাচর এখন আর চোখেও পড়েনা। রোদের তেজে নদ-নদীর পানি কমে যাবার সাথে সাথে শুকিয়ে যেতে থাকে বর্ষার পানিতে ডুবে যাওয়া খেত, খাল-বিল। পানি শুকিয়ে গেলেও এসব স্থানে আটকা পড়ে নানা প্রজাতির দেশীয় মাছ। আর সে সময় কাদা পানিতে নেমে মাছ শিকার করে গ্রামের মানুষ। রোদে হাঁটু কাদা পানিতে মাছ ধরাটা খুব আনন্দের। বহুবছর ধরে এ ধারা চলে আসছে।
আজ রোববার টাঙ্গাইলের মির্জাপুরে পোষ্টকামুরী গ্রামের কৃষি জমিতে দেখা পাওয়া যায় এমনি আয়োজনের। দেখা যায় বেশকিছু মানুষ মাছ ধরতে ব্যস্ত। এদের মধ্যে নারী, পুরুষ ও শিশু রয়েছে। কাঁদার মধ্যে মাছ খুঁজছে তারা। আর কৃষি জমির পাশে মানুষ ভিড়জমেছে মাছ ধরা দেখতে। অনেকে মাছ না ধরলেও মাছ ধরতে আসা স্বজনদের উৎসাহ দিচ্ছেন।
নদী বেষ্টিত টাঙ্গাইলের মির্জাপুরে চারদিকে একাধিক নদী। কালের বিবর্তনে এসকল নদী অনেকটাই ছোট হয়ে আসছে। তারপরও বর্ষা মৌসুমে উজান থেকে নেমে আসা ঢলের পানিতে আবারও যৌবন ফিওে পায় এসকল নদী। শুধু নদী নয়, পানি বৃদ্ধি পায় পুকুর-ডোবা আর খাল-বিলের। ডুবে যায় ধান খেত আর নিচু জমি। পানির সাথে সেই জমিতে দেশি জাতের নানা মাছের আগমন ঘটে।
একসময় বর্ষার পানি শুকিয়ে গেলে থালা, বাটি, মগ, বাল্টি দিয়ে পানি সেচে শুরু হয় মাছ ধরা। রীতিমতো আনন্দ উল্লাস করে লোকজন পুকুর-ডোবা, খাল-বিলের কাদার ভিতরে হাত ঢুকিয়ে তুলে আনে একের পর এক মাছ। পাওয়া যায় দেশী-বিদেশি প্রজাতির বিভিন্ন মাছ শোল, বাইম, বোয়াল, ফলি, টাকি, পুঁটি, খলসে, কৈ, মাগুর, সিং, ট্যাংরাসহ দেশি প্রজাতির বিভিন্ন মাছ।
